Multi-select dropdown lists are easily identified by the appearance of selection boxes to the left of the listed items. This type of dropdown contains both a quick pick field and the ability to select either single or multiple selections. The quick pick list is used to filter a large list of items.

In the figure below, the smaller media list was first filtered by typing “water” in the quick pick field. Checking multiple selection boxes and then clicking outside of the list will place your selections in the original field. If you only want a single selection, click on the name of the item (not the checkbox) or use the keyboard down arrow to select the item of interest and then press Enter.
