Add / Edit Location Form

Description

This form is used to Add Locations or Edit Locations. Locations are EMS data used to perform core EMS functions (like Practices). A Location can be a Building or an Area. The fields on the Add / Edit Location Form will change depending on whether “Building” or “Area” is selected. Terms for both versions of the form are defined below.

Note: Locations must be entered into EMSWeb before associated Practices, Aspects, or Equipment/Resources can be added.


Definitions for the Add / Edit Location Form (for a Building)

  1. Building: A Building is a physical structure that is located at a fixed place. Most Locations are typically Buildings.
  2. Area: A Location is an Area if it is not a physical structure and covers an area. Area examples include golf courses, runways, wetlands, etc.
  3. Building #: The commonly used building number, such as Building #1100.
  4. Location Name: The more descriptive name of the building, such as "Naval Facilities Engineering Service Center".
  5. Description: A description of the uses of the building, that is of importance to environmental.
  6. RPCS Code: The Property Class information is used to keep track of the usage of the building using the DoD Real Property Classification System, to three digits. The user should use the drop down menu by finding the first level of Property Class, click on the arrow on the right side, find the second level of Property Class, click the right side arrow, and then select the third level of Property Class that most closely resembles the environmental usage of the Location.
